These photos are to show the progress and skills I have gained through the process of the production. I have been working on the front cover to insert shapes and start to build it up. I firstly created a blank document on Photoshop the same size as the magazine I have been annotating. After my photo shoot I chose this image and placed it onto the blank document, I then edited the photo. I used Photoshop skills to enhance the image, I started off with the brightness and contrast, I also adjusted the saturation, sharpened the image, used the dodge and burn tool and the clone tool.
I then designed the masthead I chose a dusky pink, pink to connect with the female audience, and I chose a dusky colour to soften the front cover so the pink would subtly merge with the other colours and let the image stand out. The masthead font is Impact, I chose this as It was big and bold, the font is also simple and easy to read, and would stand out to the audience. I also feel it helps to make my magazine look professional and this is similar to some of the magazines I have been influenced by. When I placed the masthead it slightly covered the top of my model's head, I couldn't place the masthead behind her head as it would be send to the back of the image, therefore I had to rub around her head to get rid of them. To do this I had to select the layer the masthead was on, I selected the rubber tool and brought down the harshness of it down so that I could gradually rub away the part of the masthead that was covering her head. I then started to create the shapes that the sell lines would sit on. To create these I selected the shape creation tool an drew out the shapes, I could resize these by selecting the shape and pressing command and T, I was also able to select the same shade pink as the masthead for the button sell because it had saved into the colour pallet.
I have learnt how to download fonts off the internet and insert them into my product, although I did result back to the Impact font as it looked more professional than the fonts I had downloaded. I have also learnt how to create multiple layers and how to edit these.
I have made a lot more progress, I have now inserted my sell lines and I have even used the brushes. I have used different brushes and colours to create the circling of the word 'new', and I have drawn out a hashtag to connect with the young, modern audience, that now associate hashtag with social media. I thought it was a good idea to connect with the reader through a social media recognition, as it is so popular and very involved in our lives. I have also added a white base line to add variety to the front cover, I chose to create it in white as the bottom of the page was too dark and needed to be balanced out. I don't think the word 'exclusive' on the base line stand out enough seem as though it's import to the magazine that they can show off only have have this interview, therefore I think I'll change the colour of it.
